New England Patriot’s starting fullback, Jakob Johnson, is supporting local non-profit, Kristin’s Fund, through the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats initiative during the Patriots vs. Bills game on Monday, December 6. My Cause, My Cleats gives all NFL players the opportunity to wear custom designed cleats to honor the cause of their choice during week thirteen games. Johnson will be wearing Kristin’s Fund branded cleats during the televised Monday Night Football game. Kristin’s Fund was founded to honor the legacy of Kristin Palumbo Longo after she lost her life to domestic violence.
“As someone who experienced the difficulty of domestic violence in his own household, Jakob wanted to do his part to highlight Kristin’s Fund and its mission to create safer communities through domestic violence awareness and prevention,” according to Joseph Palumbo, a founder of Kristin’s Fund and friend of Johnson’s. “We are honored that he is representing Kristin’s Fund on such a widely-viewed, national platform.” Patriot’s fans will have a chance to bid on the Kristin’s Fund cleats, which were custom designed by artist, Ed Viceral, through the NFL’s auction page on the My Cause, My Cleats website. Proceeds from Johnson’s cleats will go to Kristin’s Fund.
Kristin’s Fund is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides grants for domestic violence prevention and awareness programs. Kristin’s Fund also hosts the “A Call to Men” Football Camp, a free event offered to youths to teach respect, healthy relationship behaviors and leadership, along with football skills. Kristin’s Fund has hosted three football camps in conjunction with the “A Call to Men” organization, which also provides training sessions for NFL teams and other sports leagues to reduce violence and abuse.
